Seattle-area residents: Are you naming a new business, product, or service? Are you considering a name change? Do you have other questions about verbal branding? And that includes branding yourself: Are you trying to put your best verbal foot forward in a resume?
It’s come to The Name Inspector’s attention that lots of people would like a bit of his advice right now, but don’t want to pay a full consulting fee. At the same time, The Name Inspector would like to meet more of his readers and make some new connections. So he’s decided to have “office hours” at his favorite cafe, Victrola (on 15th). $20 for half an hour of conversation about your branding problem.
Be aware that brainstorming is not the best way to make use of this time. Thirty minutes is much too short for that. This would be a conversation about naming or verbal branding strategy, a particular name you’re considering, the right way to phrase a particular idea, or some topic like that.
Here’s how it works: you email The Name Inspector to set up a time, then show up at Victrola with a twenty and a question, and find the guy with the Name Inspector sticker on his laptop. Simple and painless, right? But hurry-this offer is a big bargain and a bit of a social experiment, and might end at any time.

Gee — this looks like a great idea for an ‘open class listing’ on TeachStreet

Let me know if you need any help with exposure for that, Name Inspector!
I’d like to set up a time.
Please let me know when you’re available next week.
Thanks,
Alice Cunningham
Dude! You’re killin’ me here!
Do you know how long it’s taken me to convince people I’m worth $100 an hour!?!
Sheesh! Couldn’t you have charged $20 for, I don’t know, 11.5 minutes?
Aw, I’m just goofin’ on you. Sounds like a great idea, actually. Kinda thing that could get you some press coverage. “How Consultants are Dealing with the Downturn”, that sort of thing.
Just make sure you emphasize that this is a super-duper *extreme* markdown! Or before long, we’ll be taking the oath before some Senate committee to request a Federal Bailout for Namers and Tagliners.
Onomastically,
Namer X
ps: And it’s a brilliant way to cover your mocha and croissant expenses.
Name Inspector,
This is brilliant. I happened into your site. Can’t remember how and I’m not about to get lost hitting the back button…
But I posted about you at a couple of small business sites today. They may pop up in your Google Alerts. Keep up the great work. I’d love to meet for coffee sometime at Victrola. I’m not interested in naming help as I’m happy with my name, but I love knowing about folks like you.

I am interested in a consultation. Not sure if the $20 fee is still available. I have a business name and am looking to wordsmith my website and brochure to be more about who I am am and what I offer. I am sure we would need more than one appt.
Thank you,

Please help me with a name for my new business. It would probably be easy for you. It is a small home business, I am on a budget and in a brain freeze with my name. That is the only thing holding me back right now. Please, please, please
Thanks a bunch
